By Paul Heath, Head of Client Solutions at OnTrack International
As we leave behind another year of rapid change, 2024 has taught us that a capacity to learn and grow has never been more important.
Last year, we helped organisations and individuals grow and develop new skills for themselves, as leaders, and for the business. This has helped organisations, and their people respond to – and find opportunities in – the challenges they have faced. We have helped our clients to lead self, lead others and lead the business.
Leading self
Change starts with the individual, and throughout 2024, OnTrack international helped organisations develop individual talent, fuelling curiosity and driving growth.
Building resilience
Resilience is crucial if people are to perform at their best and businesses are to thrive – however employers and employees often have different views on what resilience means. We have worked with individuals and businesses to help define and develop resilience at every level of the organisation.
The Power Umbrella
Organisations that foster growth among their employees set the stage for a thriving and productive work environment and a robust bottom line. We have helped HR teams support employees to overcome barriers to progression and grow as individuals by focusing on the ‘power umbrella’ of connection, engagement and growth.
Becoming successful in the first 90 days
Starting a new role can be daunting and you only get one chance at a first impression. OnTrack International has supported HR professionals as they prepare for their critical first 90 days, offering guidance on what they need to do in the early stages of their new role to ensure success.
Leading others
Navigating uncertain times requires a steady leader – but also one that can adapt to constantly changing demands. We have supported clients lead others as they confront the evolving challenges.
Identifying the leadership moments that matter
Now more than ever, organisations that stand still risk becoming irrelevant and even extinct. We understand that to drive continued commercial success, organisations must evolve and unlock the potential of their people by fuelling curiosity and enabling growth. We have helped leaders to identify the leadership moments that matter if they are to do this successfully.
Re-imagining engagement: leadership for uncertain times
When uncertainty becomes the only constant, HR executives and learning & development leaders face a complex challenge. We have helped businesses understand how to reengage and reinvigorate their workforce when the foundation of ‘normal’ has shifted.
Broadening the talent pool
In 2024, OnTrack teamed up with Connectr Talent Acquisition to host a virtual peer-to-peer event, discussing how to build and develop a diverse talent pool in today’s challenging market. We explored issues such as how to set up early careers programmes for success, and discussed a trend in talent acquisition, away from the traditional emphasis on qualifications and experience, and towards skills and attributes.
End of year performance reviews
Managing employee performance is an important part of any leadership role. As some businesses start to turn away from the practice of an annual performance review, we have helped organisations reflect on their own performance management strategy and, if it includes annual reviews, how best to use them to fuel employee curiosity and growth.
Leading the business
Ensuring that the overarching strategy of a business is focused and able to adapt to shifting market conditions is important in rapidly changing times. In 2024, OnTrack International supported HR and leadership teams with some of the challenges they are facing when considering the entire business.
Tackling the self-focus pandemic
In 2024, we saw the rise of the ‘self-focus pandemic’, creating the challenge of fostering a culture that aligns individual ambitions with collective organisational goals. OnTrack International supported organisations in overcoming the detrimental impact of self-focus to ensure growth and success.
Leadership maturity
Many leaders do not have the leadership maturity they need to deal with a more volatile, complex and ambiguous environment. We have helped clients with leadership training that focuses on developing the ability to ask insightful questions and make informed decisions without having all the answers.
Female representation on boards
Despite many years of discussion around the issue, there remains a lack of women in senior leadership positions. We have supported businesses as they work to understand why there are not more women in senior roles, why it matters, and what they can do about it.
Growth mindset
Businesses are increasingly aware of the value and importance of fostering a growth mindset within their organisation. We recognise that for our clients, in these fast-changing times, the key skills required for a growth mindset – such as curiosity, adaptability, resilience, and self-belief – have never been more important if the business is to innovate and grow.
Last year, we successfully helped our clients lead self, lead others and lead the business. As 2025 looks set to be another year of rapid change, we are prepared to help organisations and their people fuel curiosity and grow to unlock their potential.
