Problem Solving & Critical Questioning
Have you ever been faced with a problem which just seemed unsolvable? Have you procrastinated because you just did not know what action to take? There are some natural reactions to challenges that compound problem solving in a swift and efficient manner. Having an approach to solving problems engenders self confidence.
The art to effective problem solving, lies in the problem solver’s ability to identify the correct “entry point” to the situation. This is followed up with a few simple steps to gather the relevant information about the problem situation. The answer is then normally a logical explanation of what caused the problem and a straight-forward explanation that would make logical sense to all involved.

FMCG
For this market leading brand we supported their manufacturing and engineering department across Europe. The main objective with these workshops was to;
1. Reduce the time taken in problem solving activities
2. Increase the quality of the solutions offered
3. Develop higher levels of proactivity to mitigate against the risk of some problems occurring in the first place.
For this particular organisation the two initial pilots led to the whole engineering population going through the programme.
Automotive
For this prestige brand car manufacturer we developed their team of internal consultants who were specialists in running dealerships. Their development workshops which we ran for these consultants under the heading of consultancy skills, were driven in the main, around critical questioning and solution development/problem solving. The outcome of this intervention was measured over 12 months which resulted in the realisation of new dealerships reaching profitability 8-12 weeks earlier than had previously been experienced. The consultants attributed this uplift in performance in the main to their competencies in asking the right kind of questions and in solving problems within viable capabilities.
Petrochemicals
For this organisation we ran a 3 day workshop titled, Change & Problem Solving. The population was that of their global project managers and to help them in solving problems which, in the long term, delivers value. Key to this workshop was also how these managers involved their staff in analysing situations to drive high levels of innovation and mitigation.
