Everyone reacts differently to pressure

Managing Work Based Pressure

Feeling tired? Reacting aggressively to people over minor issues? Worried about your work load and falling behind on deadlines? Everyone reacts differently to pressure. Sadly, most people find themselves reacting to stress rather than actively managing pressure. Self-awareness helps us to understand what stresses each of us and to recognise when we reach the point where pressure becomes stress. While the causes of stress are different, the solutions are often similar. We believe there are some core things we can do to reduce the likelihood of stress occurring.

This product area is led by Jim Hetherton. Jim has worked in all corners of the globe. He has been helping people manage pressure at work for over 15 years. Much of our approach has been developed with his practical experience in the field and research with leading thinkers on the subject.

Our approach helps:

  • Increase individual capacity to manage pressure and liberate more energy and focus at work
  • Improve productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of work performance
  • Enhance engagement, control and health

  • Work Drivers , looks at the five values which drive our work behaviour, attitude and act as stress predictors
  • Self-Management, goals, planning, using technology, environment, stressors
  • Neutralising stress, building resilience, personal and organisational detox
  • Getting the balance right – self analysis template to challenge your current activity

Motor Industry

We worked with a range of managers and executives within this icon of British industry which has a rich and enviable heritage, renowned for its engineering excellence and innovative design, its brands are admired throughout the world.

The OnTrack solution "Managing the Pressures" was designed after extensive discussion and diagnosis to develop a bespoke programme that concentrated on looking at the balance of delivering short results, while also preserving and renewing the capacity and capability of delegates to deliver these results in the long term. The results were in the words of the managers "Amazing, it has given everyone the tools to better balance life's demands"

Oil

This giant global company operates at every phase of the energy cycle. From the earliest stages of offshore exploration to the sale of petrol at one of its 22,600 service stations, they find, recover, refine, market and sell energy and petroleum products. All levels of staff within the organisation were offered the chance to attend OnTrack's "Stress Management" course.

Participants specifically learnt how to help themselves by understanding stress and its debilitating impact. They were then able to address the issues that are causing their own stress and adopt more productive perceptions. They also learn four powerful stress-intervention strategies for becoming more stress resistant and changing how they respond to stress.
